This October, as part of the ongoing World Bank project, Liberia Telecom Market Study and Pricing Regulation, Salience Consulting delivered two crucial workshops in Monrovia to support the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) in advancing the nation’s regulatory framework and telecom sector growth.
Workshop 1: Capacity Building for LTA Staff
On October 17th, the Capacity Building: Market Review and Pricing Trends workshop aimed to strengthen LTA’s capabilities in market analysis, enforcement, and monitoring. Salience consultants guided LTA staff through strategies to close market data gaps, improve regulatory compliance, and refine their approaches to monitoring and reporting practices. This session reinforced LTA’s expertise and prepared staff for enhanced regulatory oversight.
Workshop 2: Stakeholder Engagement on Market Review and Cost Model
The second workshop, on October 18th brought together key telecom stakeholders (like MTN, Orange, CSquared, CCL, Telecel, AMN and other ISPs) to review LTA’s market analysis findings and discuss cost model methodologies. This collaboration focused on developing a shared understanding of Liberia’s competitive landscape, gathering industry feedback, and planning next steps for regulatory improvements. The session highlighted LTA’s dedication to fostering fair competition and sustainable sector growth.
Collaborating with all the stakeholders in the near future will help us produce a cost model that will represent the current market dynamics and also forecast the impact in the future. We look forward to presenting these results in Monrovia within the next couple of months!
