Introducing Djibouti’s Datacentre and Cloud Computing Regulatory Framework

Salience Consulting has been engaged by the Smart Africa Secreteriat to provide strategic consulting supporting the creation of a new Datacentre and Cloud Computing Regulatory Framework for two African countries, Djibouti, and Ghana. The workshop, convened on February 12-13, 2024, brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, industry experts, and international partners to discuss and deliberate on the future of Djibouti’s digital infrastructure.  Delegates engaged in a collaborative dialogue, encouraging the exchange of insights, challenges, and best practices, exploring strategies to address key issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and infrastructure resilience. Participants engaged in detailed discussions regarding the development of a new regulatory framework tailored to Djibouti’s unique needs. The new framework aims to facilitate investment, promote industry growth, and ensure compliance with international standards. Through interactive working group sessions and presentations by Salience Consulting led by Ms. Lisa Leidig and supported by Mrs. Rozalija Bates, attendees outlined a collective vision for Djibouti’s digital future. The discussions underscored the importance of regional connectivity, job creation, and environmental sustainability in shaping the country’s digital landscape. Salience Consulting extends its appreciation to the Smart Africa Secreteriat team and all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. Together, we are laying the foundation for Djibouti to emerge as a leading hub for datacentre and cloud computing in the Africa region.
