Telecommunication infrastructure strategy for the Rua Al Madinah

The challenge

Rua Al Madinah faced the challenge of analyzing and developing a comprehensive telecom and ICT infrastructure within a limited timeline and under an existing digital strategy framework. The project required close collaboration with RAM to navigate complex regulatory and technical environments while ensuring alignment with national standards. As an industry expert partner, the task also involved defining a clear engagement strategy for RAM to effectively implement and sustain its digital infrastructure vision.

Project outline

  • Data gathering & interviews across RAM to understand demand, requirements, then produce a work plan for the methodology, stakeholders, and data sources.
  • Research regional & international benchmarks of demand growth, usage trends, and supply options in the telecom industry.
  • Propose required telecom components tailored to RAM nature & requirements (mobile and fixed)
  • Identify potential & regulated value chains and revenue streams; developing demand, cost & revenue models of the telecom project and assessing viability and roi from the neutral host perspective.
  • Developing an engagement strategy for the different players CST/MCIT & telecom providers.
  • Drafting & developing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for the identified telecom components to float to marke

Our impact

  • Identified telecommunication demand and infrastructure needs in the RAM project.
  • Developed a revenue, CAPEX, and OPEX for the different entities to be utilized by RAM in their planning & commercial negotiations.
  • Developed engagement strategy for telecommunications environment in KSA and with potential bidders.
