The challenge
NEOM required the delivery of a large-scale hyperscale data centre to support cloud-native services and global technology providers, including Oracle, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. The facility needed to be designed for extreme scalability, operational flexibility, and high availability, while maintaining the ability to rapidly scale up or down in response to variable demand.
Given the complexity of hyperscale requirements and the pace of delivery, NEOM needed experienced technical oversight to ensure that infrastructure design, materials, and implementation decisions aligned with international hyperscale standards and supported long-term operational resilience.
Project outline
-
Reviewed data centre designs and material submittals to ensure compliance with hyperscale and uptime requirements.
-
Assessed passive infrastructure solutions and recommended optimisations to support scalability, efficiency, and resilience.
-
Identified design and implementation gaps and proposed mitigation actions to reduce technical and delivery risks.
-
Provided continuous technical input to support accelerated delivery timelines.
-
Supported coordination between design, construction, and operational considerations to ensure readiness for hyperscale tenants.
-
Contributed to implementation decisions enabling flexibility across different cloud service provider requirements.
Our impact
Salience’s advisory support strengthened the technical robustness and delivery confidence of the Hyperscale Data Centre project. The engagement helped optimise infrastructure decisions, reduce implementation risk, and ensure the facility was capable of supporting demanding hyperscale workloads with flexibility and efficiency.
The project reinforced NEOM’s position as a future-ready digital infrastructure hub, capable of hosting global cloud providers and scaling in line with evolving digital demand.
Duration of engagement: July 2021 – July 2025
