The challenge
The challenge is to assess the nationwide OPGW network extension by aligning existing infrastructure, market needs, and government priorities with environmental, social, financial, and institutional constraints. The study must balance sustainability, economic viability, climate resilience, and digital inclusion while delivering accurate technical designs and a practical implementation and governance framework to support Kenya’s Digital Superhighway vision.
Project outline
- Assess the existing technical landscape, market demand, and key environmental, social, and climate risks, proposing mitigation measures where needed.
- Develop preliminary technical designs, GIS-based fiber routing, operational and governance assessments, and procurement and budgeting plans.
- Produce the environmental/social management plans, legal and institutional analyses, financial and economic models, and evaluate overall feasibility and national financial impacts
Our impact
- Provides a clear, evidence-based roadmap for OPGW expansion, supporting informed investment decisions and advancing Kenya’s Digital Superhighway agenda.
- Strengthens environmental, social, climate, and institutional readiness through comprehensive assessments and capacity-building recommendations.
- Ensures long-term project viability through detailed financial, economic, and public finance analyses, enabling sustainable national digital development.
